Overview of IELTS test



The International English Language Testing system, abbreviated to IELTS, is a standard test, which is conducted and managed by the British Council, the university of Cambridge examination and IDP Education Pty Ltd. This test is generally organized to evaluate the proficiency of an individual in English.  IELTS test has very great significance. Every year, more than 1.4 million of people all around the world take this test to pursue education in foreign universities and for the migration purposes.


IELTS test is very similar to TOEFL and is very important for non-native English speakers for study abroad and migration purposes. This test is conducted in two categories- Academic and General. The Academic category is designed for the students from countries where English is not the native language.  Those who want to pursue higher education in countries like New Zealand, USA, Canada and Australia, need to take the test compulsorily.  The general category is designed for those who want to migrate to a country which requires the IELTS test report during visa processing.
